Porsche – Time for some Body Updates
As time moves on so do car trends. I look at my 1969 Super Bee and think of times when cars were sharp and aggressive… I’ll skip the 80′s and 90′s… Coming into 2000 we still had much of the rounded “jelly bean” car lines to contend with. The biggest offender being the Mazda Miata that has a jelly bean shape and colours! My 2001 Porsche Carerra 996 C2 was factory ordered with the Aero kit which was the same body kit as the GT3. Although this did make the car more aggressive, it has still become very dated. Here is a before picture. Cars today,...

Well as we have an expanding family and we are putting many more miles on our family mover, we decided to get something newer and on warranty as well as more economical on fuel and with some more space. As we’re not fans at all of mini-vans, that whole idea was out. We also didn’t want a massive full size SUV, so our options were getting limited. After some searching on the crossover market, we came across the Mercedes R-class. More specifically, the R350 BlueTec diesel version. This is an interesting car concept and hard to explain. It is a 7-seater vehicle with loads of...

Hi all, Well it looks like the increase of positive crank case pressure killed what was left of my AOS. These things are service items and it was in suspect before my supercharger install. Looking back, my new advice to anyone looking to SC their 996 that has some miles and never had the AOS is to replace it. I did this leaving the transmission in but you’ll need to remove the driver’s side intake manifold. This actually makes it sooooo much easier to do the injectors for the SC and you don’t have to remove the expansion tank. While doing the work also look to replace some...

Hi all, Well I started this blog much later on down the road of this restoration so I haven’t been doing well keeping up with a log of the restoration, but what the heck, why not start now! First a little bit about the car. I was located locally in BC and was a numbers matching car, custom ordered new local, and I even tracked down the original owner. That was a very cool part as I got to hear some of the old stories and he even sent me pictures of the car on the local drag track in ’69 and ’70s. Very cool…. I hope that he can come see the car when its all...

Well today was a good day! I have all of the mechanical and body back together and I’m just waiting on some interior components to come back from upholstery so I can dye them and put the interior back together. I did put my new gauges in for testing purposes and a driver’s seat so I could start the car. It was an interesting experience as the first time I started the car it was gagging like crazy as I did do a lot of maintenance work including the fuel filter, so that was to be expected. I then started it again and the second time was better, but still a bit rough sounding. I...
