Porsche – Time for some Body Updates
As time moves on so do car trends. I look at my 1969 Super Bee and think of times when cars were sharp and aggressive… I’ll skip the 80′s and 90′s… Coming into 2000 we still had much of the rounded “jelly bean” car lines to contend with. The biggest offender being the Mazda Miata that has a jelly bean shape and colours! My 2001 Porsche Carerra 996 C2 was factory ordered with the Aero kit which was the same body kit as the GT3. Although this did make the car more aggressive, it has still become very dated. Here is a before picture. Cars today,...

Well today was a good day! I have all of the mechanical and body back together and I’m just waiting on some interior components to come back from upholstery so I can dye them and put the interior back together. I did put my new gauges in for testing purposes and a driver’s seat so I could start the car. It was an interesting experience as the first time I started the car it was gagging like crazy as I did do a lot of maintenance work including the fuel filter, so that was to be expected. I then started it again and the second time was better, but still a bit rough sounding. I...

Well, I’m almost completed… All the maintenance is done which was as follows: Water pump and thermostat Plugs, coils, and tubes Many coolant pipes Front driver’s rad fan The mechanics of the SC kit is installed, and you can tell this is a very carefully made kit. The clearances are amazingly close, as you can see in the engine bay… I have a pressure fill tool for the coolant system, which is a must on these cars, and after all the various work on the car it holds 25 PSI steady. This means no leaks, ready to go. The SC setup however did not and it appears that there...

So as I’m going to have the majority of my car apart this winter for the supercharger installation and various maintenance items… which may include an exhaust (fingers crossed), I decided to do some preventative upgrades. Since there is already a very good DIY (need to be a forum member to see pics), I’ll just post the links to get all the information and where I purchased. First the 6speed link that started it all: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-vendor-classifieds/201845-fs-2nd-gear-pop-out-diy-fix-cheap-insurance-2.html The DIY link for the tranny in car: ...

Hi all, I haven’t been up to much in this past year as I’ve been busy with family, work, and house project commitments… I was also wondering what to do with my car, and I came to the conclusion to sell it and buy a slightly newer Turbo to get some better performance. This conclusion was quickly dashed when I took a look at the market and Kelly Blue Book was stating $16,500 – $22,500 USD for a C2 of my year. The Turbo’s I was looking at were $40,000 – $56,000 USD. So, with that I’ve decided to keep the car and thus continue with the original plans...

Hi all, I found this information after much searching for GT3 ride height settings. In looking at them, I’m going to go with ROW Sport to start as the car needs to be streetable and I’d like to save some of the life on the rear tires… it will be a starting point anyways. As taken from: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=4060 —————– RoW Sport: Front ride height: 138mm Rear ride height: 148mm (I don’t know how to convert the spring rates (front 170lbs/in rear 260lbs/in)to kN/m… …so I guessed them) Front spring...
